IWUA convention opens Tuesday in Boise

BOISE, Idaho - Idaho Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch will give the keynote address as the Idaho Water Users Association gathers for its 70th annual convention starting Tuesday (Jan. 22.

Lt. Governor Risch will address the convention at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday. He heads a list of upper echelon guest speakers appearing at the convention. Other speakers to address the convention include Bob Johnson, Commissioner of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, and Tom Donnelly, Executive Vice President of the National Water Resources Association.

More than 200 people from Idaho and the Pacific Northwest typically attend the convention. In addition to the guest speakers, the convention also features a variety of special panels and workshops. The convention agenda is available on the IWUA web site at: www.iwua.org.

IWUA will elect officers during the convention and present a variety of annual awards at a special luncheon on Wednesday.

Special workshops will be provided for irrigation district directors, managers and staff. The association will also set down resolutions to be considered and adopted by IWUA’s membership to help guide the Association’s activities for the coming year.

The Idaho Water Users Association consists of approximately 300 irrigation districts and canal companies, agri-businesses, public water supply organizations, professional firms and individuals from around the state that manage water supplies for more than 2 million acres of irrigated Idaho farmland.
