BURLEY, Idaho (AP) - Workers with the Idaho Bureau of Land Management’s Burley office and members of Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife plan to plant over 200 sagebrush seedlings near Oakley in an effort to improve habitat for upland game birds.
The planting is in honor of National Public Lands Day, which began in 1994.
Last year on National Public Lands Day, volunteers across the country removed more than 50,000 pounds of trash, built and maintained more than 720 miles of trails and planted more than 55,000 trees.
This year volunteers who work on a site managed by the National Park Service, Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, Bureau of Land Management or Army Corps of Engineers will get a pass good for free entry on any day during the next year at sites managed by those agencies.
