IWUA 71st annual convention opens Jan. 20 in Boise

BOISE, Idaho - Idaho’s largest water user group will hold its 71st annual convention Jan. 20-22 at the DoubleTree Riverside Hotel in Boise, the Idaho Water Users Association announced.
The three-day gathering will feature a variety of high level speakers and panels examining a wide range of water and environmental topics. IWUA will also elect officers during the convention, and adopt resolutions that will guide the Association’s activities during the coming year.
Program topics during the convention will include a look at the incoming Obama administration in Washington and how water issues might be affected; the 2009 water supply outlook; salmon recovery efforts as they relate to the new Columbia River Fish Accords; invasive species issues; and briefings from federal and state water officials
IWUA officials will present series of water-related awards at a special luncheon on Jan. 21. Special topic workshops will also be provided for irrigation directors, managers and staff.

The Idaho Water Users Association consists of approximately 300 irrigation districts and canal companies, agri-businesses, public water supply organizations, professional firms and individuals from around the state that manage water supplies for more than 2 million acres of irrigated Idaho farmland.
