Scholarship money available for students in irrigation field
BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Irrigation Equipment Association expects to award thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students going into agricultural irrigation or turf-landscape irrigation fields in 2009.
In 2008, the IIEA awarded $14,600 in scholarships to 22 students. College scholarships ranged from $500 to $1,200 per student. These students were selected on the basis of academic accomplishments, leadership, and interest in pursuing a degree in an agricultural irrigation or turf/landscape-related field.
Since 1981, the IIEA has awarded $268,995 in scholarships to young men and women.
Graduating high school seniors or college students can contact their local IIEA member irrigation equipment dealer or contact IIEA Secretary Tondee Clark at (208) 377-8188 to request an application form. The form is also available at www.idahoirrigationequipmentassociation.org. All applications are due Feb. 15. Previous award winners are encouraged to apply if they are still attending college.
The IIEA was established in 1971, and membership consists of 120 separate entities including wholesale suppliers, retail dealers, equipment manufacturers, public utilities and financial institutions engaged in serving Idaho’s irrigation needs.
